Hanging and Displaying

Some suncatchers are light enough that the suction cup included with each piece can hold the weight. I recommend to thoroughly clean the suction cup and area you want to hang with glass cleaner or soap and water.

Reminder that suction cups can fail.

 I highly recommend to secure a screw-in hook to a window frame, wall or wherever you want to display your suncatcher. Do this especially for larger/heavier stained glass works.​

Touching Stained Glass

All stained glass pieces created by Clare Beardsley use solder and/or came that contains lead. All pieces are sealed after creation but I recommend that whenever you handle your suncatcher to wash your hands with soap and water to practice good safety precautions. Lead cannot be absorbed through the skin, but is harmful if ingested or breathed in.

Cleaning

All glass work goes through a thorough process to clean and seal each and every stained glass piece. However, from time to time solder can oxidize and leave a whitish substance, or "bloom," on the surface. To remove, wipe with a brush or a scrub pad. Do not rub overly abrasive stuff against the glass such as heavy duty steel wool as this could create scratches.

Re-Sealing

You may re-seal your glass work by placing it on a flat surface and applying carnuba wax or similar car wax or Clarity wax with a soft cloth and then buffing out. Re-sealing adds back shine and prevents oxidization and dust build-up.
